Haven't updated in forever, sorry
I personally think there are 5 steps to becoming a "pro" at poker. I guess I will try to smart here for little bit. First one which is where everyone starts is, of course the beginner, I don't really know anybody that was born and already knew how to play, this step we learn hand rankings, pot odds, percents and outs and stuff like that, basically the math and logic behind poker. Step 2, improving beginner, well we probably fell in love with the game, we are getting sick of losing and we want to actually start winning, we are trying to get better and be able to make good decisions, we still sometimes chase too much, make silly mistakes basically, we do win occasionally but not that much, we want to start winning more. step 3, I think quite a bit of online poker players are on this step, I'm going to call it semi good player, now we are getting the hang of it, we are trying to get rid of our silly calls, chases, tilting, etc. we now know how to win more often, although occasionally we still make those mistakes, maybe because we still don't handle the emotions properly, or maybe we are rushing and being impatient, but we do start winning little here and there, and lose some here and there. Now step 4, I think is one of the toughest steps in my opinion, "solid player", now we are where we start winning quite a bit, probably not enough to live on but pretty decent side money to spend on fun things, laptop, ipod, monitor, tv etc etc. Now we are where we learned all there is about poker, we calculate our odds and outs in few seconds, we start making reads on people, we start really getting deep in hands, we think about hands in all ways possible, we start seeing patterns and stuff like that. We go deep in a lot of tourneys, have small cashes, but like I said now we are on that step where the next step is becoming a pro and playing poker for a living, I'm sure many of us thought, dreamed, tried or w/e to become a pro, not many will have success with this, because not many know what they are getting into. Many people think, well I can get up and go to bed whenever I want, I will win some tourneys and I will be fine, well not really thats not how it works. I'm personally on that step 4, but there are so many things to becoming a pro. Well first of all you need some sort of schedule, you should be playing tourneys that are most profitable for you, but also you need some time for personal stuff, family, kids, etc. Also you definitely need a backup plan, if you just don't have the nerves and just can't handle it, you need some sort of education, so its easier to get a job, of course there is nothing wrong with playing poker on free time, weekends after work, w/e, for little etc money. Also you need money to start with and some money as back up in case you go on a bad run which happens to every poker player at least once during their poker career. Also you need to learn how to become more aggresive and start taking top 3 instead of just trying to make ft, I know a lot of players try to just make ft and then try to get w/e they can get, well to be able to make actual profit, you need to get top 3 places, since they pay the most money, not many have what it takes to take down tourneys, but if you are playing more aggresive that means in some cases you might not even make the final table, that means you need to learn to deal with it and still play your best game in the remaining tourneys if you multi table, which is probably a good idea. This is also where you should be making almost no mistakes unless its just a cooler or bad beat. But yea, I'm kind of tired and kind of sleepy, I hope i made my point. I might have to reread it and rewrite it later.
Other than that I been doing ok, I'm still working on improving my game, I still do make occasional mistakes just from anger problems and sometimes not paying attention, Thats also what i need to do, concentrate more on the game, I tend to do a lot better when im concentrated. I think thats just about it for now, I'm going to go grab a snack and sleep. I will try to start updating this more often, also sorry about being lazy for last month, lol. good night.

Sorry about the hand replayer
Icemonkey special
Moving on up!!!
Had a fairly good today, just took 2nd out of 90 in 3.30 ko and also 10th out of 400 something in 3.30 ko, could of made more $ but I'm still happy with it, lost 10s vs AJ heads up when J came on river, to lazy to get hand history and screen shots and way to tired right now, need to go take a shower and work on my sng article, really have to edit it and see if i missed anything important. I did hit 300$ today, well I just won two 6$ heads up, played a little out of my roll but it wasn't like I was tilting or anything and played a game I was actually really good at, heads up that is, after I finish my sng article I may start one for heads up. Oh and reason I took 10th was because I made a move at wrong time, had A4 on button, CO raised, i was trying to pick up a fairly nice pot so i re raised all in, not because I like a4 but I was just trying to make a move and ran into 10s, not mad about it or anything but I'm glad I do get to move up to 5$ 6$ games. I forgot to take a screen shot of my original roll and when I moved up but here is a screenshot with me at 300$, hope you trust me enough to believe me that I started with 25$ lol, and also I did use my points to help me out a little, but I'm sure I could of got there even without points, just would of took more time. I think thats it for now. Laterz.

Bob_tiger attempts a new challenge
Right now I'm allowed to play any $1 sng/mtt
60> I'm allowed to play any $2 sng/mtt
150> I'm allowed to play any $3.30 sng/mtt
300>I'm allowed to play any $5.50mtt and any $5.50-$6.50 sng
600>I'm allowed to play any 11$ sng/mtt
at 1000 I'm allowed to play $26 sng up to 90 man. and any 11$ mtt.
2600>I'm allowed to play any $26 mtt
5500>I'm allowed to play any 55$ mtt and any sng up to $119
7500>I'm allowed to play any $75 mtt
10,000 I finished my challenge, and I'm allowed to cash out some $ and have some fun.
***I'm allowed to do any satelites my br allowes me to play higher buy ins, for example at 600$ I'm allowed to play 6$ and 8$ satelites for a 26$ token.***
I may also make few videos of some games I play, we will have to wait and see.
***After I'm over $1000, I must have 50 buy ins for sngs and 100 buy ins for mtts***
***Highest buy in sng I will play will be $119, so After I hit 6k, I will start playing those.***
I have no idea how long this will take, hopefully not very long, but we will see. Also I will start out by 12 tabling 1$ 9 man sngs, and will just keep updating my blog as I go, I guess. Reasons for doing this? Well I can sit here for hours and whine and tell you my bad beat stories but I find that to be a waste of time, basically I have bubbled many final tables while I was playing out of brm, I took 12th in 129$ KO tourney, I took 13th in 33$ 1rebuy1add-on tourney, I took 24th in 163$ 40k gtd tourney, and I'm sure there are more I can't think of right now, but basically I messed up in about 5-7 tourneys towards the end, I'm not sure why, maybe I was playing to aggresive, maybe not aggresive enough but I'm going to build back up and hopefully hit many final tables on the way. Also I feel like I need to work on my brm once again, since I have been slacking off quite a bit and by posting in here it really helps me, and keeps me motivated.
As for the goals I made last month,
>>> My main goal is to enjoy poker, which I usually do. (not so much towards the end of the month but hopefully we will change this soon)
>>> Get on SNG leaderboards. ( failed)
>>>Make one big ft in a nl hold em tourney. (yea took 8th in $55 1 rebuy 1 add-on tourney)
>>>Win another omaha h/l tourney. (yup did that)
>>> Try to make 3k profit or more. ( failed)
All of these goals sound very reasonable to me in my opinion and I think I can accomplish them all hopefully, but we will find out next month :).

Few good/bad news and some other stuff
Ok as for the good news, there is a lot more of that, since I tend to forget some of the bad ones sometimes. Well first off, I got my own private table on full tilt at 50c/1$ 9 handed and have been doing ok on it. Also I will be making a video right now of me playing few 90 mans, so will post those when I'm done. And here is a little update on the few goals I made last month
>>> My main goal is to enjoy poker, which I usually do. I'm about 60/40 on this, I had fun but had some bad days too.
>>> Get on SNG leaderboards. Right now I'm in like 200th place or so, I mean I can get in top 100 but at the end of the month I will get like only 22$ since I'm not like top 10 or so.
>>>Make one big ft in a nl hold em tourney. Nope this hasn't happene yet.
>>>Win another omaha h/l tourney. Yes this did happen, I won a 22$ omaha h/l tourney and funny thing is when we were heads up I had 10k chips vs 80k and I still pwned that noob.
>>> Try to make 3k profit or more. I'm at like 1.3k profit so by the end of the month yea should be 3k hopefully.
That's all I can think of now, laterz.

Poker, I think I finally understand it now
I won't give away the whole story but I thought the movie was excellent, I think from that movie I really learned what poker is all about, I don't play live much but poker in my own opinion is basically US, ok that might not make sense, but what I'm saying is we make poker, we create our own table image, we have our own style, stradegy, game plan etc etc. To be a winning poker player though you have to pay close attention to your opponents and thats the only way to be a winning player. I mean I could also blame that I lost many of my coin flips in my tourneys but who's fault is that? of course mine if I had played better I wouldn't be forced to get my short stack in with worst hand.
I personally don't play much live, mainly just with some friends just for few bucks and when we play its nothing serious, so there is nothing really to learn other than how to beat few drunks who dont care what happens, yea anybody can do that.
I'm going back between to many things right now, I'm just thinking about this and typing, which is probably a bad idea but I guess I just need to let everything out and just improve is what I'm saying.
Well my story is pretty interesting I think, when I first started playing, I wasn't sure what to think about poker, I thought of it what you would call "gamboling" ( yes I know I spelled gambling wrong) I played for fake chips maybe couple of hours a week, I didnt understand this game, so I started watching it on tv and I would learn more and more new things, and when I played I started to understand more so for example lets say the flop was all hearts, my opponent bets at me, and from what I have seen past few hands he would check with a strong hand and let the other player bet, so even though I have missed the flop too I started to think would he really be doing this if he had it, I think not, so I raise and he folds, that type of thing, of course sometimes I would get tricked by my "read" so I started watching more and more and started understanding it more. Then I had lots of fake chips on stars which I happened to sell to one of my friend for like 10$ of course when I started playing I had no idea what bank roll management was and sometimes today I wonder if I have yet to learn it, so I played like 3$ game or w/e it was obviously lost all of my money, don't really remember what happened but after trying playing few times I fell in love with the game right then and right there, so I decided to take another stab at it. This time I started playing some smaller sngs, won a little money here and there, I haven't really played any tourneys or anything so I'm thinking why don't i try one of these, seems like it would be fun from watching on tv. so I did that I believe my first tourney I did happen to hit itm but I think I got to tight and was playing scared money, thats when I started thinking if I can make it this far then I can make it even further, so my question to myself was how can I do that? so I started thinking, then I'm like well I definitely need to play a bit more aggresive loosen up and I don't need to have the nuts in order to call or bet, so I'm thinking ok I can try that. I kept playing them, got deep in few, nothing big of course I believe my biggest was like 7th place in 2$ tourney, Then I started learning more and more and taking more a bit serious. Then I finally had few nice cashed, don't remember everything exactly but I can say that I started improving, I wasn't playing scared money anymore and even though I was still playing ABC poker I understood poker even more, I learned few new tricks, check raising etc etc. Then I was able to actually final table smaller games and I started playing on full tilt.
This is probably the 2nd part of the story, so my very first tourney a friend of mine who I haven't talked to in a long time says to me you want to play some tourney, I'm like yea I guess I don't know just checking out the site or something like that I said, he goes I send you 26$ play the 26$ mtt thats in 10 minutes, I kept trying to convince him I didn't want to play it but to be honest I did want to play it even though really didn't want to play it with his money, believe it or not I got 13th place in it, yea very lovely number. At the beginning I started off pretty bad and I was able to bring it back from a short stack and was even at a table with umm whats his name, michael craig and even took a nice pot from him, and unfortunately I got very unlucky and took 13th. after that I for some weird reason decided to put 20$ in to heads up and figured if I lose I just save rest, give 30$ back to my friend and just keep the 10$ish or w/e I would have let to play w/ myself, I'm not sure why I decided to play heads up so dont ask why, and I happen to do really good and somehow I won 500$ in less than 2 hours, I was a bit surprised/excited and even shocked to some point. So yea I shared some of it w/ my friend and this is where the good part is, let's make it short and sweet, I had terrible brm was to excited played over my roll, and lost my money. Yup I was dissapointed but I figured oh blah w/e not like it was my money, I didn't really play often so it didn't matter much to me.
Then I started to poker more serious, joined few forums and basically read a lot of hand histories, just to try to figure out how people bet in each case at each level, and after a while obviously I stopped doing it. Of course I have got a lot better and moved up levels, but I like all players still need to learn and improve, I know luck is a factor in this game but it's so tiny that in the long run I should be alright long as I play smart and get better. I can keep going and tell more stories but basically what I was trying to say is I know this unlucky bs will end and I will even get lucky in some situations but luck will balance it all out, its all about my skill and do I have the skill to be a winning player? and the skill to be able to be patient and practice good brm, that I don't know right now but I hope I do and if I don't there is only one way to improve, Practice!!!

Running bad, blah!!!
let my emotions out since I just can't hit shit to save my life and this is probably a bit messy and I'm sorry but I rather just let it all out than blow my whole roll on some stupid crap. All I want is for FTP to cut the bull shit and let me catch a break.

Here comes a new month
Also today I happened to d/l the free trial of poker tracker 3, it seems really sweet and the HUD works really good, considering I happened to make couple of great plays at 100nl with it. I was just kind of messing around with it but he is what happened, I had Q2h on button folded to me, the sb was a really tight player his VP was at 6 ( VP basically stands for how loose/tight player is) so basically he was really tight, what u call a nit, so I figured I only had to worry about bb, who was at 31 vp i believe, so I raised to 3.50 he re raised me to 10, I was playing only one table and his re raising % was pretty high too dont remember what it was so I decided to get tricky and call. Flop came J 7 6 rainbow no heart if i remember correctly, he bets out 16$ after thinking about it I say to myself I know he missed this so i re raise him to 48$ i believe it was, and make it look like I'm protecting my "big" hand. he insta folds and i show my bluff, and whats even more funny is, next hand i get 88 someone raises to like 3.50 or 4 so i call. What was great about this is that i hit my 8 with 7 4 on flop a bit dangerous, but I knew he either had higher pp or two over cards, I didnt put him on 56 thats for sure from position he raised. So I bet 6.50 in to 10$ pot i believe, He calls me kind of fast. On turn the board pairs 4, he checks to me, I kind of slow down and check make it look like I was bluffing and I gave up on the hand so on river comes another 8, QUADS!!! BINGO!!! I'm thinking nice come on pay me off buddy, what does he to do, he bets pot 20-30$ it was i think, so i shove him all in, yea that was the bad part of this play i got 2 excited on the river, I should of made a min raise or a smaller raise but I'm still happy with 60$ pot or w/e it was.
Right now I'm about to go eat my popcorn and make a vid of me playing a couple of 3.30 90 mans so I'm gonna go. adios.

Goals for next month
>>> My main goal is to enjoy poker, which I usually do.
>>> Get on SNG leaderboards.
>>>Make one big ft in a nl hold em tourney.
>>>Win another omaha h/l tourney.
>>> Try to make 3k profit or more.
All of these goals sound very reasonable to me in my opinion and I think I can accomplish them all hopefully, but we will find out next month :).
Screen Shot for the omaha h/l
Been a long time!!!
Another amazing news is that I won another omaha h/l tourney after starting out with a tuff day at satelites with a lot of unlucky bad beats and such. I won about 1.2k after I beat same guy I played in this exact same tourney last time I won this tourney, 26$ pl omaha h/l 2nd time I won this one and also won a 26$ limit omaha h/l one long time ago. I will post the scree shot after I'm done with this.
Also I'm kind of dissapointed about my old computer, had couple of good vids on it one was 3.30 90 man and another dont remember to be honest but my computer messed up, was having hard time uploading and they got deleted basically, which was dissapointing obviously.
Also I have been a bit lazy, acually to lazy with some breaks from poker and not to good of a luck since I tilted of quite a bit of my roll but I have builded back up and back to being smart and patient again. I was going to try to get on sng leader boards this month but didn't do it, was on it for little at beginning but couldn't keep up so thats one new goal for next month. I'm rolled up for 20$ 9 mans after my win tonight so I will be playing a lot of those and will see if I can hopefully get on leaderboards this month. Also I'm a bit dissapointed at myself for doing some crazy brm mistakes but I had fun while doing it got to admit. I bubbled two 500$ sngs lost 33 to 810 and lost a8 to qk we had same stacks all in pre both times. Unlucky but its a lot of fun playing sngs at that high of level, those were my last 500$ sngs for a while until I hit 50k which probably won't happen for a while.
Watched this guy today took 2nd in sunday mill on stars for 105k after a 3 way chop and 1st in 750k gtd in one, so sick and RIGGED obviously. he made like 240k or close to it, must be nice sleeping right now after those long hours of play. Also watching scotty nguen PWN in 50k horse Wsop event #49 i believe he is 1st out of 3 with a huge chip lead right now 11 mill vs 1.6 and 1 mill or close to it last i checked. First place is 2 mill after 5 days of play which is very very sick.
Don't know if I mentioned this or not, but just recorded a 55$ mtt which i was unlucky vs a donk
made a correct read and everything, basically it was more of just testing out to see if I could
get it to work or not. I uploaded it on youtube, it said uploaded but now its processing or something like that, will see how that goes. Well anyways I think thats about it for now, will post anything else that comes to my mind. Also I will try to start updating more often again and not be lazy.

thx for watching if u do, also dont be shy to post and tell me what you think about it
Screen shot and summary of my challenge
Well there it is, I'm pretty proud of myself and Hopefully I can win a lot more $. My goal for this month is fairly simple I think. I want to earn Iron status and get some iron medals, oh ya and of course make some $, it dont really matter how much since i dont play this for a living.
Ok I just want to give some tips to players. If you ever decided to try something like this, and you dont even have to start with step 1 you can deposit like 50$ and go ahead and start at step 2, but most important thing is don't rush it. If i did it in about a month ( - 9 days break) it doesnt mean you can do it just as fast or faster, basically what I'm saying is time is on your side, all of those tables will still be there tommorow or and after tommorow and etc etc. I wish gl to anybody that will try and repeating this, just take your time, good bank roll management and patience is the key. I also dont suggest playing many tables unless you are comfratable enough and experienced to do so. Well I think thats about it :) !!!
Been lazy!!!

Time to talk a little more about my challenge
Whats more sick? Quads followed by Quads or Winning two tourneys in a row?
1st place in 2.25 6 handed tourney
My Quads getting paid off by a calling station
I took 1st place in a 2$ rebuy
I have been having a hard time uploading my screen shots and it finally worked. I only rebought once in the beginning and added on in this tourney so its a nice profit. I played pretty good overall I think and was able to take it down. I was a little unlucky heads up, first hand A8 vs 98 he doubled up by hitting 9. Then after 44 vs 4kh he hits a flush on river. And he rivered me again in a hand later dont remember what happened, but anyways i get A8 flop comes K J 6 then A he bets big i pushed all in he calls me with 67c and missed his flush and i was able to win it all!!!
Since that i haven't been playing and ready to win some more.

Being able to handle downswings?
Saturday, April 12, 2008
Weeeee Step 2 is succesfully complete :) Step 3 here I come
Great newsssss. I finally managed to pass that 60$ mark. Thank you poker Gods, my skills, bad players that donated chips to me, and good players that got unlucky against me, last but not least thank you full tilt. hehe. Ok that was me just being a smart a$$ lol. I'm very excited and I personally think next step is going to be very easy at 2$ level. I'm going to play some tourneys and some more 2$ sit n gos. I don't think this will take me long. I'm gonna say 2 or 3 days until I'm on next step but I'm in no hurry so its all good. So far I feel like I have been playing good poker for most part and I'm very proud of myself. Before time I used to always be worried about getting unlucky and going broke with br under $100, this time i wasnt even close to being broke and I think starting at $25 was a great idea since I had some room in case i got unlucky or made mistakes. Time to move to next step woot woot!!!!.
Current Bankroll: $65.68 Full Tilt Points: 719.10
Please Poker Gods let me win 12$ more so I can move to next step

Ok time to work on step 2
I mentioned in my last post that I finally hit $25 and I'm finally going to start playing 1$ sit n gos today woo hoo. I will definitely will need luck with my hands holding up because I'm sure about 80-90% of the time I will have best hand at this level. Also will need luck with coin flips, so here i go. Also here is a screen shot of me sitting at a full tilt table with my $25.

My plan for the mission
I think i will grind at the 1.25 level with my 25$ until i hit 60$ then I will hit the 2.25 games this is about 26 buy ins in to that, and level of play is pretty bad still. At this point i think i will allow myself play some 2.25$ tourneys but mostly stick to sngs. At this point I want to grind until i hit 165$ in order for me to play 3.30 90 mans which I own. I believe my roi in them is about 130% right now. I will have 50 buy ins in to that which I think is plenty for me because i make ft about 1 out of every 4 or 5 i play and usually i get top 4 or so. At this point i will allow myself to do some 3$ tourneys but I still don't want to play tourneys at this level. I think i can make more $ playing the 90 mans which are a lot faster and easier.
At this point i want to grind up to 300$ and do some 5$ and 6$ sit n gos, mostly 6.50 9 mans since I do pretty good in them. Also I might play some 5$ tourneys, prolly omaha h/l limit is going to be one of them. I will still keep playing 3.30 90 mans obviously and do this until i hit about 600-700$ then i want to move up to 11$ 90 mans or do 8.80 token games to play 26$ 90 mans. But i will probably won't be playing 11$ tourneys other than 11$ pl omaha h/l. I will probably use some of my profit of the day to do token games in order to play 26$ tourneys. My first 26$ tourney i want to play is prolly going to be 26$ limit omaha h/l because I'm very good at it and have won it before and 9th place once. I only played this 3 times but i also won 5.50 limit including 2nd and 4th place. Im planning to grind this out to 1000$ and then set some new goals after I complete this challenge. So this is what I plan to do and I think this will take me around 2 months possibly more, depending on how much time I have to spend on poker.
My nice run in HORSE and 3rd place finish
bob starts his adventure
Lately I been running pretty bad on full tilt and just losing just bs hands. I don't really tilt but sometimes I do lack patience. I started yesterday with 48 cents and 62.30 points but i lost 60 points. Afterwards I started playing 180 man free rolls and so far won 2 but haven't played that many either. Currently I'm sitting with 200 points and at a final table of a horse free roll that started with 2400 players, so far I'm 6th out of 6 with 223k and in middle of my favorite game omaha h/l so I will be fine. This is my 3rd final table in this event so I'm excited, Also this is first time i played this free roll in about 4 or 5 months. I will post what place I got after I'm done.
